Car parking around the Casino
We would like to advise you of a couple of developments that we have been advised of.
Firstly, the parking fee at the Crowne Plaza is rising from $15 flat rate per day to $17 flat rate per day. Casino Senators' Club members who use their reward points will still follow the same procedure in having their Crowne Plaza boom gate ticket endorsed at the Casino's Guest Services reception so that an exit pass can be obtained from the Crowne Plaza reception on the members way to their car. If you are not a Senators' Club member, you may like to consider joining - it's free and you can start accumulating reward points immediately. For all the benefits ask our Guest Services staff or go to www.casinocanberra.com.au/member-benefits/member-benefits
Secondly, the Crowne Plaza will be classifying their drive way as a 'Tow-away' zone and signage will soon reflect this new policy. Parking is available under the National Convention Centre from just $2 after 5pm weekdays and $2 ALL DAY on weekends and public holidays.

$500,000.00 dollar Poker Tournament
Casino Canberra will hold a poker tournament over the long weekend in June that will carry a prize pool approaching $500,000.00. The tournament called ‘PokerStars.net ANZPT Canberra’ is a part of the very successful Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) is expected to attract over 200 players from around the region. Peter Cursley, Director of Marketing of Casino Canberra believes many of the region’s poker clubs will buy a seat or two in this major tournament and run their own club tournaments with the winners earning a seat in the June ANZPT Tournament.
Casino Canberra will run weekly tournament each Thursday and Friday starting between 7.30pm and 8.30pm where the winners of these satellite tournaments can also win a seat in the big one.
The cost to enter the major tournament will be $2,200 but from just $110 to enter the satellite tournaments.
ANZPT is part of the PokerStars series of tournaments that include the European Poker Tour (EPT), Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) and Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT). Each tour stops at the world’s most exclusive destinations to play for huge prize pools, giving players the ultimate live poker experience.

Poker in 2011
Casino Canberra is planning a big year for Poker in 2011. Commencing in January, we are planning our traditional Thursday night tournaments plus introducing Tuesday Hold-em Lightning Satellites in January and February to enter players in the Sydney ANZPT. In March, April and May, the Lightning Satellites will propel the winners into the ANZPT Super Satellites held each month to give players entry into the Canberra ANZPT Tournament over the Queen’s Birthday Weekend. According to Casino Canberra's Tables Manager, this will be four days of full-on Poker.
We think everyone will be exhausted by the end of that so we are planing a break from tournaments for July but, in August, they are back with Thursday Poker tournaments and Tuesday Lightening Satellites and tournament. In September and October, the Lightning Satellites on Tuesday could win you entry in to the end of month Super Satellites that could then win you entry in to the November End of Year Tournament held over the weekend of 26 and 27 November. Casino Canberra will also run a Team Tournament on 28 November.
That just leaves December where we are planning 10 Team Satellites culminating in the Christmas Team Hold-em Tournament on 17 December.
At this stage all tournaments are dependent on Government approval but if we have all their plans approved, it will be a big year for Poker at Casino Canberra.
